Lesbian

Warning!

There's some confusion about the Lesbian label, where some people use labels like "bi lesbian" or "pan lesbian", if you use some of those labels it may be wrong, since lesbian is a term that excludes man from it, so those terms would be contradictory.

Have a look at the sapphic definition below, maybe it suits you!

To be as simple as possible, a lesbian is defined as a non-man who is exclusively attracted to non-men, whether it be romantically, sexually, or in another way. Non-men means anyone who does not identify as a male.

The definition is inclusive to non-binary people, but not every non-binary person needs to use this label, as there are also labels specific for non-binary people to explain their orientation.

Sapphic

Sapphic, on the other hand, is more of an umbrella term, for any non-man who is attracted to women. This does include lesbians, but it also includes non-men who like men, so it's a label for both lesbians and m-spec non-men. If you had previously thought lesbian was a label that included m-spec people, maybe the label you were searching for was actually sapphic.

You can also call sapphic people WLW (woman loving women), or NBLW (non-binary loving women), although not all NBLW may want to use the label sapphic.

It's a label that often does not get as much attention, so we would love to address the existence of it to inform more people!
